I purchased a Hobie 16 and plan on doing on doing a coastal cruise on it. Im in need of some parts, second hand is fine. I need a working trampoline and some jib hardware, cam cleats and such. Ive sailed some monohulls and a Hobie 14 non-turbo in the Carribean. The last feat I accomplished was 200 miles up the coast in a $250 Newport 16 off ebay. It was a blast, but looking to get a bit more adventre on the 16 this year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im in the Portland, Tx area if anyone is willing to give the boat a once over for me.

Holy Shi-ite! It looks as though Dennis, wins the spin fleet in a tie breaker, by less than a minute corrected time!

Nice going Dennis, Matt.

OK, so we know that all those spin boats have pretty sails, but theres hardly any pix of the lowly Portsmouth boats; So how about us Portsmouth boats taking lots of pictures and maybe at awards we can find a computer that we can consolidate and exchange photos? Dave

Muff Rider would have been better

I went to the bank this morning to get a bank check to pay the fee. The teller made it out to Buff Rider Regatta. Is that acceptable?

Posted By: tomko2010Posted Date: 7/30/2009

Yea I do but I dont think your gonna do it

Looks like the 5-minute over early penalty clears the premature starters of being susceptible to the DNS penalty - also, if several boats need repairs, say on Sunday morning, as long as they go off at 29-minute intervals, we can keep starting em all day long. Sounds like fun - I havent sailed this particular format yet, and I want to! Hope to see yall in SPI.

The round the island format is a good one. Ive done it every time it was this format I believe, even the bandit run year.

If anyone needs a capable crew, keep me in mind. I could fly to Harlingen (my dime), and back, etc. I have the time off work, etc.

Scott - Andrew and I completed a 200 mile event from Port Mansfield to Magnolia Beach in early June...all on the inside. It was a blast and having never done Ruff Riders up the ditch I now understand the appeal.

The way the organizer resolved the logistics of vehicles being moved was to charter a bus. Everyone dropped off their boats in Port Mansfield; left crew to keep an eye on things; drove their vehicles with trailers in tow to the end of the line and parked them.

The bus then hauled folks back to Port Mansfield. The price was $50/head and they sold out...quickly. Just a thought...

Scott,
Thanks for the update. We are looking forward to going around the island. Thanks again for making this the best weekend of year.

Scott,
You are doing a great job and no one will ever fill your shoes. I just thought I would throw the idea out there, because I have some really fond memories of sailing the ditch with 100 others to CC.

Thanks for all that you do!
John

Im all for going round the island again - I found the Mansfield cut a great sailing challenge and the tacking/passing battles in there are great fun. Obviously you need to be careful about dagger boards - but the edges of the channel are pretty easy to spot.

Chris.
